Snake bites are a major problem in Nepal, just like in India, which often results in the killing of snakes out of fear. The lack of proper education and volunteers who can professionally remove animals from residential areas makes this a widespread issue.

Kamal Devkota has started a project in which awareness plays a prominent role. Locals often don't see the value of snakes, but these animals play a vital role in the ecosystem. They, for instance, protect humans from pests such as rats which can be highly destructive. Additionally, the venom of many snake species can also be used to develop medicines that are useful for humans.

The project trains locals in snake removal, provides education and offers support to snake bite victims.
