Herpsymposium: King Cobra

In October 2017, the first major multi-day symposium on reptiles and amphibians was held in the Netherlands. The Herpetofauna Foundation and EduPet, organized the two-day event that was held in the Van der Valkhotel in Veenendaal, where the king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) was central.

Internationally renowned researchers and biologists such as Romulus Whitaker, Bryan Fry, Mark O'Shea, Colin Strine, Matt Goode and many others lectured on the world's largest venomous snake, the king cobra, and related topics such as the uses of venom for medicine, conservation and youth participation. In addition to the Netherlands, interested parties came to Veenendaal from all over the world, including countries such as India, Chile and Australia.
